Chamber of Commerce Holiday Party to Honor WWII Hero Bill Gosch on 101st Birthday

(WNY News Now) The Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Holiday Party on December 4th invites the Tonawandas community to enjoy the holidays and pay tribute to WWII veteran Bill Gosch, a hometown hero.

The Elks Lodge, located at 55 Main St., Tonawanda, NY, will host the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas’ Annual Holiday Party on Wednesday, December 4th, at 5:30 p.m. In addition to celebrating the season, this joyous event will pay tribute to William Bill Gosch, a WWII hometown hero from North Tonawanda, who turns 101 in December.

Maggie Higgins, the recently elected Chamber President, said, “This holiday party is a great opportunity for us to unite in a spirit of gratitude and unity.” Bill’s service, bravery, and dedication to the community are values that we can all be reminded of by honoring him.

Bill, a 1942 graduate of NT High School, joined the Marine Corps soon after the Pearl Harbor attack, answering the call to service during World War II. He took part in four combat missions while serving in the Pacific Theater.

Bill is equally impressive in his commitment to civic leadership. He continued his lifetime of public service at the age of 97 when he was appointed as a temporary member of the NT City Council. Additionally, Bill was a key player in the annual 4th of July Bike Parade, Canal Fest, and Dyngus Day celebrations.

Joe Marranca, the chair of the Holiday Party Committee, expressed gratitude for Bill’s presence as both our honored guest and a valued part of our community. Since his birthday fell within the same week, it seemed like the ideal chance to honor his service and commemorate this amazing achievement.

Chamber members can get tickets for $25, while non-members can purchase them for $35. In order to support the Rockin with Santa Toy Drive and enter to win a unique gift from District 37 Kitchen & Taphouse, attendees are urged to bring a brand-new, unwrapped toy.

Additionally, everyone has the opportunity to personally express their good wishes by signing a giant community birthday card for Bill that was presented by the NT Neighborhood Watch at the Chamber office located at 254 Sweeney Street. “The holiday season is quickly approaching, and like all Chamber events, the Holiday Party is a fantastic time for us to come together as a community and celebrate,” said Jeff Ross, Executive Director of the Chamber.
