Chautauqua Driver Arrested for DWI After Crashing on Plank Rd

(WNY News Now) After a collision in the Town of Chautauqua on November 16, 2024, a 51-year-old Randolph man was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

Chautauqua, New York. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office was called to a car collision on Plank Road in the Town of Chautauqua at around 5:35 p.m. on the evening of November 16, 2024. It was discovered that the driver, Rusty Ernewein, 51, of Randolph, had been operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Deputies found that Ernewein had been driving his car while inebriated after doing additional investigation. Following his arrest, he was accused of failure to keep right, driving while intoxicated (DWI), and consuming alcohol while operating a motor vehicle.

Ernewein has been processed and will subsequently appear before the Chautauqua Town Court to respond to the accusations. The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
