A 53-year-old woman from Accokeek, Maryland, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in a Clinton parking lot earlier this month.
The suspect, identified as Chelley Thorne, was taken into custody by Prince George’s County Police Department after the shooting death of Anthony Traevon Dawson, 30, of Clinton, Maryland. The incident occurred on May 12, 2025, around 9:40 p.m. in the 9800 block of Piscataway Road, a commercial area in Clinton.
Victim Found Dead at the Scene
Officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they discovered Dawson lying in a parking lot with a gunshot wound. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Suspect and Victim Knew Each Other
Investigators quickly launched a homicide investigation. Through their inquiry, police determined that Thorne and Dawson knew each other. However, officials have not yet disclosed the exact nature of their relationship or the motive behind the shooting.

Chelley Thorne has been charged with both first-degree and second-degree murder, as well as additional related offenses. Authorities confirmed that she was arrested without incident and is currently being held without bond at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.
