Cindy Van Buskirk Named Coach of the Year for Fort Mill High School Girls Swimming

Cindy Van Buskirk of Fort Mill High School deserves congratulations for winning Coach of the Year! This honor is a tribute to her outstanding leadership, commitment, and the enduring influence she has had on the school’s swimming program.

Van Buskirk has solidified her reputation as an exceptional mentor and advisor for young athletes with her 17 years of coaching expertise, which includes 12 years as head coach. The Fort Mill High School Girls Swimming team accomplished amazing feats under her direction, including winning the state championship for the SCHSL 2024 5A Division 2 Girls Swim Team. For the 16th year in a row, the squad maintained their incredible run as Region 3 5A Region Champions.

The team’s continuous success may be attributed in large part to Van Buskirk’s dedication to perfection and her capacity to uplift and encourage her players. She cultivates a culture of diligence, sportsmanship, and collaboration that equips her swimmers for success in and out of the water, thus her effect goes beyond the pool.
