Florida’s Miami Gardens. Tyreek Hill is not expected to be traded by the Miami Dolphins anytime soon.
A day after Hill suggested he might want to leave Miami after a loss to the New York Jets that ended a losing season in which the Dolphins missed the playoffs, general manager Chris Grier and coach Mike McDaniel spoke with Hill on Monday.
“I have to do what’s best for my career at the end of the day,” Grier said, referring to Hill’s postgame remarks in which he indicated he enjoyed playing in Miami.
At his end-of-season press conference on Tuesday, Grier continued, “But he never asked for a trade with me.”
According to Grier, the conversations were (constructive). I’ll keep those private. One thing I would add, though, is that during a season that was difficult, he was quite upset during a game where we had a chance and won 2–6. It all kind of swelled up to a point when he played despite his (wrist) ailment.
In the season finale, Hill pulled himself out of the game late after only catching two catches for 20 yards. During their hour-long chat on Monday, McDaniel claimed to have warned Hill that his absence from the fourth quarter was unacceptable.
McDaniel said that although he and Hill had a good relationship, they needed to talk things out.

According to McDaniel, his competitive nature might symbolize postgame, particularly during a season or game that no one enjoys, and it can hint at a one-sided relationship. I told him straight up. We were talking about excellent terms, and he was really honest.
He accepted responsibility, and we talked about a number of topics, including the unwavering belief that leaving a game is unacceptable and would not be accepted in the future. We needed to clear the air in a difficult and turbulent circumstance, but I wouldn’t say there is necessarily anything to correct.
