DUNKIRK, NY The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office was called to a single-vehicle collision on Route 5 in the Town of Dunkirk on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at around 1:58 a.m.

When deputies arrived, they determined that the driver was Jerrold J. Katrein, a 37-year-old Dunkirk resident. After an investigation, it was discovered that Katrein was driving the car while inebriated.

Following her detention, Katrein was accused of the following crimes:

  • Driving While Intoxicated (DWI)
  • Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident
  • Speed Not Reasonable or Prudent

In order to respond to these accusations, Katrein is expected to appear in Town of Dunkirk Court later. The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
