Dunkirk Man Charged with Grand Larceny and Possession of Stolen Property

(WNY News Now) After a Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office investigation, a 37-year-old Dunkirk resident is charged with grand larceny and stolen property.

Brooklyn, New York Deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office were called to a reported larceny in the Town of Portland on December 21, 2024. Jose Ruiz Jr., 37, of Dunkirk, was arrested as a result of the inquiry on charges of stealing someone else’s property.

Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree are the charges against Ruiz. He was given appearance tickets and is expected to appear in Portland Town Court later to respond to the accusations.

The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
