(WNY News Now) – A 19-year-old Dunkirk man faces multiple charges after a violent domestic incident led to his arrest following a dramatic attempt to flee police.
Dunkirk, N.Y. – On Thursday, October 3, 2024, Dunkirk Police responded to a domestic dispute on the 700 block of Main Street at approximately 9:12 PM. Officers were dispatched after reports of a fight and arrived to the sound of a woman crying for help from an upstairs apartment.
As officers approached the apartment, they were forced to break down the door to gain entry. Inside, they discovered a chaotic scene, with the suspect, 19-year-old Sage M. Bistrisky, leaping out of a second-story window in an attempt to evade arrest. Despite his efforts, officers quickly apprehended Bistrisky outside the building.
The investigation revealed that Bistrisky had physically assaulted the female victim, refused to let her leave the residence, and caused significant damage to both the victim’s property and the window he jumped through. Following the incident, Bistrisky was transported to a hospital for injuries sustained during the fall.
On October 23, 2024, at approximately 6:11 PM, Dunkirk Police officers successfully located Bistrisky and took him into custody. He was transported to the Dunkirk Police Department headquarters, where he was processed and held pending arraignment.
Bistrisky faces charges of Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, and Harassment in the Second Degree. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
