Dunkirk, New York (WNY News Now) A man from Dunkirk was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with several felonies after it was discovered that he was in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Fernando Martinez Jr., 44, was taken into custody by Dunkirk Police officers on Central Avenue close to 4th Street on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at around 11:05 p.m. A January 2024 inquiry into Martinez’s alleged possession of a semi-automatic weapon resulted in an active warrant.
Officers found other evidence of illicit activities while making the arrest. According to reports, Martinez had 0.9 grams of cocaine, 3.2 grams of fentanyl, and 6.5 grams of methamphetamine in his possession. A digital scale, cutting tools, several glassine envelopes, and $446 in cash—all of which are frequently used in drug distribution—were also in his possession.
Martinez is now being charged with several offenses, such as:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (three counts)
- Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree (subsections 1, 2, and 3)
- Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug with Intent to Sell

The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
