Elton John reveals he has lost his vision due to an eye infection

LondonThe 77-year-old British artist Elton John announced his blindness to a theater audience on Sunday.

The Tiny Dancer and Rocket Manstar, one of the best-selling artists of all time, was at the opening of a production in London’s West End, but he said he was unable to see the performance.

I’ve had problems, and as some of you may know, I’ve lost my sight. John told the Daily Mail, “I haven’t been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed it.”

John claimed that an eye infection in recent months had caused him to lose vision in his right eye and to have poor vision in his left, which prevented him from reading or watching anything and jeopardized his future ability to produce new music.

On Sunday, John was on the red carpet for the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada, a musical that he composed the music for and is based on the best-selling book.

He said, “It’s difficult for me to see, but I love to hear it, and it sounded good tonight.”

He thanked his husband, David Furnish, for being his rock when addressing the audience at the theater.

After playing a farewell tour from 2018 to 2023, John, who gained notoriety in the early 1970s and has since concentrated on his family, is known for his piano-led rock songs and ballads like “Candle in the Wind.”
