Evans Hit-and-Run Driver Strikes 89-Year-Old Man at Mailbox, Flees Scene

(WNY News Now) Police are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver who fled the scene of a hit-and-run incident on Derby Road Monday night that wounded an 89-year-old man.

An 89-year-old man was injured while standing at his mailbox on Monday, December 16, and Evans police are looking into the hit-and-run incident. The elderly guy suffered injuries to his arms, legs, and back in the collision that happened in front of 7380 Derby Road at around 5:35 p.m. He was sent to Erie County Medical Center for treatment right away by ambulance.

The incident’s vehicle, which was of an unidentified make and model, was last saw traveling west on Derby Road in the direction of Sturgeon Point Road. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward as they attempt to piece together further specifics.

Pieces of what is thought to be the car’s passenger side mirror are among the evidence gathered at the scene that could help with the inquiry.
