(WNY News Now) On December 1, the Audubon Community Nature Center will host a free First Sunday Story Time. This is a great opportunity to introduce young minds to nature and learn about the wonders of animals and seasonal change.
Jamestown, New York.Books are excellent resources for fostering a child’s connection to the natural world and laying a solid intellectual foundation.
You may take a literary journey with animals through different habitats and seasons at the Audubon Community Nature Center’s First Sunday Story Time on December 1 at 12:30 to 1 p.m., learning something new every time you turn the page.
The event begins at 12:20 p.m., and the Nature Center opens to the public at 1 p.m.
Following Story Time, you can explore the indoor Nature Play Area, interactive displays, and animals before heading outside to see Sara the Spotted Salamander. Sara joined Tank, the 1,500-pound concrete turtle, five years ago. She is around 14 feet long from nose to tail tip. Both were made by Mike Whitmire of Whitmire Outdoor Living in Starbrick, Pennsylvania, and donated to Audubon.
The First Sunday Tale Admission is free on Sundays.
Story Time reservations must be made before Saturday, November 30. You can make a reservation by calling the Nature Center at (716) 569-2345 during business hours or by visiting AudubonCNC.org and selecting Programs and Events.
There can only be 15 participants. If there is space, walk-ins are welcome.
The Audubon Community Nature Center is situated between Jamestown, New York, and Warren, Pennsylvania, at 1600 Riverside Road, a quarter mile east of Route 62. Free admission is offered to the almost 600-acre nature preserve, where you may stroll the more than five miles of trails every day from dawn to twilight and observe the live birds of prey.
Interactive exhibits, a variety of live animals, including the Hellbender exhibit, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop are all housed in the three-story Nature Center building. Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. are open to visitors. Every day, SNAP/EBT cardholders and Nature Center members can enter the building for free. Every Sunday, non-members of the Nature Center can access the building for free.
