(WNY News Now) A 19-year-old local resident with an active arrest warrant was apprehended following a foot pursuit during a late-night street check on Jamestown’s north side.
Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd Platoon began a normal street check at a shop on the city’s north side on December 19, 2024, at around 1:07 a.m. They came upon Calvert J. Ortolano, a 19-year-old Jamestown resident with an active departmental arrest warrant, during the check.
Ortolano fled the scene on foot after being told to stop, which led to a chase across the neighborhood. He was swiftly taken into custody by officers and sent to the Jamestown City Jail. Ortolano is now facing an extra charge of resisting arrest in addition to the original warrant.
Ortolano is still being held at the local jail while he awaits his arraignment in Jamestown local Court. The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
