Ford recalls over 270,000 Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles for 12-volt battery failure issues

Due to worries about battery failure, Ford recalled hundreds of thousands of cars, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Some 2021–2023 Bronco Sport SUVs and 2022–2023 Maverick pickup vehicles are impacted by the recall. There are about 272,817 cars involved in the recall.

As stated the NHTSA, the 12-volt battery can undergo “degradation and suddenly fail.”

“Battery failure can result in a loss of electrical accessories, including the hazard lights, or cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash,” the notice added.

According to Ford, there was a production flaw with the supplier.

Letters informing owners will be mailed out on or around February 3. After inspecting the recalled cars, a dealer should replace the 12-volt battery for free if needed.
