Four teenagers from Urbandale and Carlisle are facing serious charges after what was supposed to be a drug transaction turned into a violent robbery in Norwalk over the weekend. According to Norwalk police, the suspects not only attacked another teen but also threatened to shoot him and stole his belongings during the encounter.
Drug Deal Set Up Via Social Media
Police say the incident took place on the night of Saturday, May 24, 2025, on East 17th Street in Norwalk. The victim, a local teen, had allegedly arranged a drug deal with 17-year-old Alonzo Tucker of Urbandale using social media.
Instead of a routine exchange, the meeting escalated quickly. Tucker arrived with three other teens—16-year-old Michael Moore and 16-year-old Kwlei Levy-Bundy, both from Urbandale, along with 16-year-old Landon Klages from Carlisle. Once at the scene, the group allegedly attacked the victim, threatened him with a firearm, and stole his mobile phone.
One Suspect Found With Two Handguns
Investigators reported that Kwlei Levy-Bundy was found in possession of two handguns at the time of his arrest. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether a firearm was brandished during the robbery, but the presence of weapons significantly raises the severity of the charges.
“All four suspects were taken into custody and have been charged with robbery in the first degree,” a Norwalk Police Department spokesperson confirmed.
Under Iowa law, robbery in the first degree is a Class B felony and carries a potential prison sentence of up to 25 years if convicted. Given the violent nature of the alleged offense and the use of firearms, police and prosecutors decided to charge all four teens as adults.
Teens Face Adult Charges in Warren County
The case is now in the hands of the Warren County Attorney’s Office. Officials emphasized that although the suspects are minors, the seriousness of the crime—including threats involving firearms—justified adult-level prosecution.
“In situations where extreme violence or weapons are involved, the law allows us to pursue charges in adult court, even when the offenders are juveniles,” said a spokesperson from the county attorney’s office.
The names of the suspects were released due to the decision to charge them as adults. All four teens are currently being held in a county detention facility awaiting preliminary hearings.
Community Reacts to Disturbing Trend
The incident has raised concerns among parents and local officials about the rise in youth-related crimes involving drugs and firearms.
Norwalk residents expressed shock over the violence, especially in a case involving teenagers from neighboring communities. “You don’t expect this to happen so close to home,” said one resident. “It’s terrifying to think that kids this young are getting involved in such serious crimes.”
Authorities are urging parents and guardians to monitor their children’s online activity more closely, particularly on social media platforms that have become common tools for arranging illegal drug transactions.
Law Enforcement and School Collaboration
Following the incident, school officials from both Urbandale and Carlisle districts have been in communication with law enforcement. School resource officers and counselors have been made available to support students who may be affected by the news.
Both districts released brief statements acknowledging the arrests and reinforcing their commitment to student safety and crime prevention education.
Ongoing Investigation
Police are continuing to investigate whether the suspects were involved in any other recent criminal activity in the area. The firearms found on Levy-Bundy will undergo ballistic testing to determine if they were used in other crimes.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities have encouraged anyone with additional information about the case to contact the Norwalk Police Department.
