New Jersey’s Seaside Heights. As more and more people report seeing the enigmatic flying objects, confusion and frustration over drone sightings around the East Coast are intensifying.
On Friday night, NBC News had firsthand access to the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department’s surveillance activities in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
Realistically, we’ll have a better sense of who’s doing it once we know where they’re going or where they’re coming from, said Ocean County detective Anthony D. Amico.
D Amico made use of a drone that can fly 200 feet straight up and is linked to a power source. It has a thermal camera attached that takes pictures that are invisible to the naked eye.
According to police thermal cameras, NBC News saw a number of fast-flying objects on Friday that seemed to be traveling far more quickly than commercial airplanes.
After seeing something flash by the screen, D Amico remarked, “I couldn’t even begin to tell you what that was.” Because it’s all thermal, it’s more difficult to determine. Therefore, I can’t just look up and see what it is.
Government and municipal officials have unable to provide definitive explanations regarding the nature of these objects, despite reports of sightings spanning approximately a month.
Everyone seems to be in agreement, and we’re all a little annoyed that nobody has any solutions, D Amico continued.
In addition to the thermal camera, our team noticed a few blinking objects in the sky that didn’t move like a commercial airliner and seemed to hover stationary above the ocean.
The surveillance operation of the sheriff Many locals came out to see the mystery in the skies on Friday night, some of them searching for it themselves.
Nikole, who lives in the Seaside Heights neighborhood, stated that she felt uncomfortable disclosing her last name and that it is unacceptable to respond with the statement, “We don’t know and it’s OK.”
According to her father, Martin, it’s moving from left to right.
Additionally, it keeps moving vertical. She continued, “I’ve never seen a plane go vertical.”
To fly, the entire public must give their consent. Farmers must get permission to fly skydivers and paragliders. However, there are no solutions, and everyone feels at ease with enormous machines buzzing around. “The public is truly concerned about it,” Nikole added.
A Facebook group named Operation Investigation brought together several of the residents who informed us they had also been witnessing unusual things in the sky for the past week.
Doug Hendricks and Pamela Westervelt, members of the group, were alert for any additional sightings in the region on Friday night.
According to Westervelt, when asked how they distinguish between a drone and a plane, they employ the process of elimination: if you see it hovering, if you see it flying erratically.
Additionally, they claimed that in order to rule out commercial flights, they use smartphone apps such as FlightRadar24 to determine the whereabouts of registered aircraft in the sky.
According to Hendricks, one way to rule out objects that might be airplanes or military aircraft is to listen for jet engines and similar sounds.
As new reports keep coming in, there are more questions than answers.
I’m annoyed. “It’s frustrating,” Hendricks said, “and I think we deserve answers to what’s flying around in the air by our homes.”
