Gary Paul Babinec, 78, Tega Cay, SC

Tega Cay, SC Mr. Gary Paul Babinec, July 18, 1946 ~ November 17, 2024 (age 78), died unexpectantly on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Piedmont Medical Center, Fort Mill surrounded by his family.

Born in Utica, New York, Mr. Babinec was the son of Genevieve Hadzjak Babinec and the late Paul John Babinec. Gary will always be known as a man who cherished fishing and his family. He taught Anthony and Mike, his grandkids, everything there is to know about fishing because he loved it so much. He loved spending time at Kring Point and on the St. Lawrence River when he resided in New York. He loved assisting all of his friends with their construction projects because he was a handyman. He liked having Lizzy, his cat, around. He also cherished every buddy he had in Tega Cay, South Carolina.

Michael Excell (Kelli), Alexis Conte (Sean), and Ryan Conte are his three grandchildren; Beckham Excell, Maverick Excell, Mason Brady, and Daphne Green are his four great-grandchildren; his good friend John Burnham (Little Grasshopper) is still alive; and his three children, Darsel Excell (Thomas), Rhonda Danella (Guy), and John Babinec (Susanne), are all still alive. Anthony Excell, his grandson and fishing companion, and his wife, Diane Doxie Babinec, came before him.

The family is receiving services from Palmetto Funeral Home.
