(WNY News Now) With immediate effect, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has issued a travel advisory for the whole county. Travel conditions have been severely hampered by heavy lake-effect snow and strong gusts, leading officials to advise drivers not to make needless trips.
Residents are advised to delay non-essential travel until the alert is lifted and the weather improves, even though the advisory does not entail a complete road closure. It is recommended that those who are compelled to travel use extreme caution, allow extra time for travel, and be ready for any unexpected weather changes.
In order to maintain road safety, drivers are also asked to keep an eye out for first responders, snowploughs, and other road staff.
