Inmate Accused of Violating Order of Protection at Chautauqua County Jail

(WNY News Now) A Jamestown man has been charged with criminal contempt by Chautauqua County authorities for allegedly breaking a stay-away order of protection while he was a prisoner.

According to an investigation conducted at the Chautauqua County Jail, inmate Tarice A. Echevarria, 25, of Jamestown, NY, reportedly made multiple phone calls to a person who is shielded from him by a court-issued stay-away order of protection on December 3, 2024, at around 2:00 PM.

Despite the legally enforceable prohibition, the investigation found that Echevarria had made multiple attempts to get in touch with the protected person. In light of the results, he was accused of second-degree criminal contempt, which is a misdemeanor in New York State.

For additional procedures, Echevarria is expected to appear before the Town of Chautauqua Court. The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
