Israel confirms it killed Hamas leader in Iran

Israel’s defense minister has confirmed that the country killed the top Hamas leader last summer and has threatened to do the same to the Houthi rebel group’s leadership in Yemen.

Israel Katz’s remarks seemed to be the first time that Israel had admitted to the murder of Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed in an explosion in Iran in July. Leaders have previously alluded to Israel’s involvement in the incident, which was largely assumed to be its fault.

Katz stated in a speech on Monday that the Houthis would suffer the same fate as Haniyeh and the other members of an alliance commanded by Iran in the area. He said that Israel has destroyed Iran’s anti-aircraft systems, murdered other Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, and assisted in the overthrow of Bashar Assad in Syria.

He declared that we would chop off the head of the leadership and attack the Houthis’ strategic infrastructure.

He made reference to Hamas and Hezbollah officials slain in earlier Israeli attacks when he declared, “We will do in Hodeida and Sanaa just as we did to Haniyeh, Sinwar, and Nasrallah in Tehran, Gaza, and Lebanon.”

Throughout the conflict, the Iranian-backed Houthis have fired many drones and missiles at Israel, including one that landed in Tel Aviv on Saturday and left at least 16 people injured.

Throughout the conflict, Israel has launched three rounds of airstrikes in Yemen and has promised to increase pressure on the rebel group until the missile attacks cease.
