(WNY News Now) After a domestic argument that turned into alleged protection order violations and property destruction, a Jamestown resident is facing several counts.
New York’s Jamestown. Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon responded to a reported domestic altercation at a Jamestown home on the North Side at around 7:29 p.m. on the evening of November 24, 2024.
Investigators found that 29-year-old Jamestown resident Joseph D. Mitchell had reportedly broken two active orders of protection. Mitchell is charged with stealing a protected person’s cell phone and escaping the scene before law enforcement could reach them.
Mitchell was found by police not far from the house. Despite being recovered, investigators noted that the stolen phone had been damaged prior to its discovery.
Without any problems, Mitchell was arrested and transferred to the Jamestown City Jail. In Jamestown City Court, he is being detained pending arraignment on the following charges:
- Criminal Contempt in the First Degree
- Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree
- Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree
- Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree
The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
