Jamestown Man Arrested for Trespassing, Resisting Arrest at UPMC

(WNY News Now) On January 23, 2025, a Jamestown man resisted arrest and refused to leave UPMC, leading to several charges against him.

New York’s Jamestown On January 23, at around 10:20 a.m., officers arrived at UPMC on Foote Avenue in response to a complaint regarding a disruptive person. Jamestown resident Joseph W. Kulig II, 42, allegedly refused to leave the hospital following treatment.

At first, Kulig was safely led off the property by officers. However, at around 10:48 a.m., a security guard on patrol close to the hospital reported that Kulig had not left the premises, flagging down the officer. Rather, he had climbed into an empty car parked close to the front door of the hospital.

Officers repeatedly ordered Kulig to get out of the car after discovering him seated in the rear seat. Officers had to physically remove Kulig because he would not obey. He actively resisted being taken into custody during the procedure, but officers were ultimately successful.

After being taken to the Jamestown City Jail, Kulig was accused with resisting arrest, trespassing, and second-degree impeding governmental administration. He is being detained until Jamestown City Court arraigns him.

The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
