(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man with a history of contempt charges is now facing a felony after being apprehended for violating a court-mandated protection order during a domestic dispute.
Jamestown, N.Y. – On November 7, 2024, at approximately 8:54 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded to a reported domestic dispute at a residence on Jamestown’s East Side. Charles H. Karr Jr., a 50-year-old Jamestown resident, was found inside the home despite an active Stay Away Order of Protection requiring him to avoid contact with the female victim.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed Karr’s presence in violation of the protective order. They were also aware of an active bench warrant for his arrest, issued by the Jamestown City Court. Karr has a recent conviction for Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, which escalated his current charge to Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a felony.
Following the arrest, Karr was transported without incident to the Jamestown City Jail. He remains held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
