Jamestown Man Charged in Town of Ellicott Shoplifting Incident

(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown resident faces a charge of petit larceny following an alleged shoplifting incident in the Town of Ellicott.

Ellicott, N.Y. – On November 12, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Town of Ellicott Police responded to a report of suspected shoplifting at a local store. According to police, 36-year-old Andrew S. Vanguilder of Jamestown allegedly concealed merchandise in his coat and left the store without making payment. Vanguilder was subsequently charged with petit larceny.

In compliance with New York State’s bail reform guidelines, Vanguilder was issued an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott court at a later date to address the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
