In the midst of rumors that the comedian got into a brawl at a restaurant in Beverly Hills, California, Jamie Foxx was hurt when someone hurled a glass that hit him in the mouth, according to his representative.
Just after 10 p.m. on Friday, there was an altercation at Mr. Chow. According to a news release, Beverly Hills police said they first received a complaint regarding a “possible assault with a deadly weapon” but later concluded it was unsubstantiated.
“Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties,” police stated.
Following a preliminary inquiry, officers wrote a report detailing the alleged battery. There have been no arrests.
According to a Foxx spokesman, he was at the restaurant celebrating his birthday when someone at a different table allegedly “threw a glass that hit him in the mouth.” Friday was his 57th birthday.
“He is recuperating after requiring sutures. The issue is now in the hands of law enforcement after the police were called,” Foxx’s spokesman stated.
The incident comes after Foxx’s “What Had Happened Was” Netflix special, which was released on Tuesday, revealed that he had a stroke last year after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Foxx claimed that after undergoing surgery at a hospital in Atlanta, he was rehabilitated at a Chicago facility.
