Jason Kelce answers whether he has FOMO ahead of the Chiefs-Eagles Super Bowl

Jason Kelce doesn’t feel like he’s losing out on the opportunity to watch his favorite Philadelphia Eagles play his brother’s Kansas City Chiefs in another Super Bowl game.

Kelce tells TODAY.com, “I wouldn’t say I have FOMO (fear of missing out).”As a former athlete, you naturally believe that there is a part of you that always wants to be on the field. You believe that someone will always want to play a part.

He goes on, In actuality, though, I’m still rather pleased with the choice I made. For several reasons, I decided to stop playing football.

In March 2024, the former center for the Eagles announced his retirement from the NFL. Kelce claims he knew at the time that this was a possibility because he had lost the chance to play his brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, in football’s most important game.

In February 2023, the Chiefs won a thrilling 38-35 game in Super Bowl 57 after the Kelce brothers engaged in head-to-head or helmet-to-helmet combat. Two brothers played on different Super Bowl teams for the first time in NFL history.

Even though Philadelphia has a chance to redeem itself in this year’s Super Bowl, Kelce says he’s content to let his old comrades lead.

Regarding his forecasts for Sunday, Kelce says he sees several possible outcomes.

“I’m not sure it will be a high score, but I could be mistaken,” he admits. Both of these defenses, in my opinion, are excellent.

He goes on to say, “As an Eagles fan, I think the closer the score gets, the more anxious I get about Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce and what they can do with the game on the line and how many times they’ve been in that position.”

But throughout his career, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has also performed admirably under pressure, Kelce says. He claims that since it’s the Super Bowl, any team can win in any given year.

Kelce claims to have already arrived in New Orleans in order to prepare for Sunday’s game. This week, his parents, Ed and Donna Kelce, are scheduled to come.

Kelce reveals that the family has no predetermined plans for the Super Bowl, which they will all attend together, save from enjoying beignets on Bourbon Street.

Kelce said of his brother, “I’m going to see Trav very sparingly because he’s going to be focused on winning this game.” This week is essentially all business for them.

However, Kelce is hardly the only bearded, muscular man on Bourbon Street. During a competition with Marriott this week, a number of Jason Kelce doppelgängers crowded the streets of New Orleans.

He adds that for a period, there were about 25 doppelgängers going around, and that many super fans were searching for the genuine Jason Kelce because there were so many lookalikes.

A complimentary night in the Courtyard Super Bowl Sleepover Suite within the Caesars Superdome was awarded to the winners who could identify the genuine Kelce among the impersonators. Naturally, they also got to spend some time with the retired NFL player.

He laughs and remarks, “Even though I am a fairly generic-looking man, I have never seen that many people that look like me gathered in one place.”

In what he describes as a novel experience in the NFL landscape, Kelce has continued to be involved in the game as an ESPN broadcaster while leaving the league as a player.

He adds, “Now, being on the outside of that, is someone who’s supposed to be an expert in the entirety of the NFL.” As a player, you view everything through the prism of your team, and every movie you watch every week is exclusively for the Philadelphia Eagles.

He claims that it has been enjoyable to experience the entire league this year and that he has had to watch more football games than he has ever seen in his life.
