Jay Leno shows up with bruised face and an eye patch to comedy show after fall

Following a serious fall, Jay Leno is recuperating.

The 74-year-old TV personality and former Tonight gig host showed up to his most recent comedy gig with a battered face, a broken wrist, and an eye patch.

Before a gig in Pittsburgh, he was heading to supper when he slipped down the side of a hill, he told Inside Edition.

He told the outlet, “I’m a little beat up.” I tumbled sixty feet. One boom, one boom, one boom.

Leno claimed that after hitting many pebbles, he became completely black and blue. He explained that he need the eye patch since one of the boulders had struck him in the eye. In addition, he lost a fingernail.

He responded, “It’ll be fine,” when asked if he would be able to see again. It doesn’t concern me.

Leno did not postpone his stand-up performances in spite of the fall, performing only three hours later. On November 18, the comedian performed in Beverly Hills as well.

Leno suffered additional damaged bones in a motorcycle accident just a year ago. He informed the Las Vegas Review-Journal in late January 2023 that he had a broken collarbone after being knocked off his motorcycle.

“I have two broken ribs,” he stated. Both of my kneecaps are cracked.

He also told NBC News on the phone at the time that he had been riding his motorcycle when he tried to drive into an empty parking lot after smelling leaking gas and collided with a wire that was between two poles.

In addition, Leno suffered severe burns in 2022 when a fire broke out in his garage when he was working on his vintage vehicles, two months prior to his motorbike accident. Following the burning of 7% of his body, including his face, chest, and hands, he spent 10 days at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles.

He told Hoda Kotb of TODAY that he was repairing a clogged fuel line on a 1907 White Steam Car. He blew air through the line while he was underneath the car.

And all of a sudden, I was covered in gas. At the time, he claimed, “And then the pilot light jumped and my face caught on fire.”

Leno is still expected to appear on November 20 at the Comedy for a Cause event in Hermosa Beach, California, to benefit the Grossman Burn Foundation, despite his most recent ailments.
