Kendrick Lamar drops surprise album ‘GNX’

“GNX” was Kendrick Lamar’s sixth studio album, which was released on Friday without much notice.

On Friday afternoon, Lamar released a teaser for the album, and soon after, the project was made available on streaming sites.

One of the twelve new songs on “GNX” is “squabble up,” which was hinted at in the music video for Kendrick Lamar’s popular diss tune “Not Like Us.”

In 2022, Lamar released an album titled “Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers.”

“Wacced out murals,” the album’s opening track, contains lyrics that reference Kendrick Lamar’s earlier criticisms about the condition of rap today. The song references the unnamed song that he posted on Instagram in September and the criticism that other rappers gave him once he was revealed as the next Super Bowl halftime show performer.

The new record astonished and delighted fans. On social media, several people expressed their excitement.

Lamar’s incredible year after his battle with fellow rapper Drake is concluded by the album. Following months of Drake and Kendrick Lamar exchanging diss tracks, Lamar emerged victorious with his breakthrough hit “Not Like Us,” which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and was recently nominated for multiple Grammy Awards.

Having already produced five editions of “the heart” tracks, Lamar carried on his tradition. Drake’s diss track against Lamar this year was titled “The Heart Part 6,” but it didn’t stop Lamar from making his own “heart pt. 6” for “GNX.”

SZA makes two appearances. The record was also produced with Jack Antonoff’s help.
