Mayville, New York (WNY News Now). The major water wells in Sinclairville have been shut off due to a tanker truck accident on Route 60, prompting residents to conserve water. The incident, which involved a tanker transporting gasoline, has sparked worries about possible contamination of the main water source.
The Village will rely on two backup wells to keep service going while authorities try to keep the water safe. These wells, however, are unable to supply the highest demand, hence water conservation measures are required.
Steps to Conserve Water
To help households use less water, village officials are requesting that they do the following:
-
Laundry
: Limit washing clothes or use commercial laundromats.
-
Showers and Baths
: Take shorter showers and minimize water use in baths. -
Dishwashing
: Use paper plates and disposable utensils to reduce dishwashing needs. Run dishwashers only when fully loaded.
-
Everyday Use
: Avoid letting water run unnecessarily, such as when brushing teeth or shaving.
