Mega Millions Christmas Eve drawing yields no winner as jackpot grows to $1.15 billion

Even though no one won the $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot on Christmas Eve, a few folks will still be staring at a ton of green.

After the drawing on Tuesday night, no winner was declared, and the prize slowly increased to $1.15 billion. The Mega Ball of 3 with a 3X Megaplier and the winning numbers for Tuesday were 11, 14, 38, 45, and 46.

Four individuals from California, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Wyoming matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball, but no one won the jackpot. Their $1 million prize became $3 million after using the Megaplier.

At 11 p.m. ET on Friday, the next drawing will take place.

Joshua Johnston, lead director for the Mega Millions Consortium, stated in a news release, “We know that many people will likely receive tickets to Friday’s drawing as holiday gifts, and what a gift that would turn out to be if you ended up with a ticket worth a $1.15 billion jackpot.”

Less than half of that amount would go to the winner who chooses a lump payment option, but $516.1 million is still plenty to fill a lot of stockings.

Since the last winner, a Texas resident who won $810 million on September 10, the current jackpot has been increasing.

It would be the biggest prize ever won in December if someone were to win the next Mega Millions jackpot in the final two draws of the year.

The past several years have seen some of the biggest Mega Millions winners ever. Last year, a single Florida winner received the biggest payout when their ticket cashed in on a 1.6 billion jackpot.
