Met Opera’s Iconic Tosca Takes Center Stage at Fredonia Opera House

(WNY News Now) – The Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD series continues at Fredonia Opera House on Nov. 23 with Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca, a thrilling performance featuring world-class talent and breathtaking Roman scenery.

FREDONIA – Live at the Met, the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live, high definition (HD) opera transmissions to theaters around the world, continues its 2024-25 season at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center on Sat., Nov. 23, at 1 p.m., with the Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca.

Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen stars as the passionate title diva in David McVicar’s thrilling production, transmitted live from the Metropolitan Opera stage. British-Italian tenor Freddie De Tommaso makes his eagerly anticipated company debut as Tosca’s revolutionary lover, Cavaradossi, and powerhouse American baritone Quinn Kelsey is the sadistic chief of police Scarpia.

Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the electrifying score, which features some of Puccini’s most memorable melodies.  McVicar’s thrilling production features towering recreations of three iconic Roman landmarks: the Church Sant’Andrea della Valle, the Palazzo Farnese, and the Castel Sant’Angelo.

The production runs three hours, 30 minutes with two intermissions.

Individual tickets to each of the operas in the Live at the Met season are $20, ($18 Opera House members, $10 students). A flexible subscription of eight tickets which can be used however you want – one at a time to eight different operas, all at once for eight people, or anything in between – is available for $142.
