(WNY News Now) – Governor Kathy Hochul has expressed deep condolences following the tragic loss of a New York State Parks employee who died while combating a wildfire in Orange County on Sunday.

ALBANY, N.Y. — Governor Kathy Hochul issued a statement on Monday mourning the loss of a New York State Parks employee who died in the line of duty while responding to a wildfire in Orange County on Sunday. The employee, whose identity has not yet been released, was part of a firefighting effort to contain the blaze as dry conditions fuel numerous wildfires across the state.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of one of our New York State Parks employees while responding to a wildfire in Orange County yesterday,” said Governor Hochul. “My prayers go out to his family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time.”
