NYPD searching for man who fatally set woman on fire in the subway

A man who is suspected of setting a woman who was asleep in a subway car on fire and killing her is being sought.

Just before 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, the unnamed woman was found dozing off on an unoccupied F train at the Stillwell Avenue stop in Brooklyn, according to the New York Police Department. According to authorities, a man approached her there, set her on fire, and then ran out of the subway.

Since emergency medical personnel pronounced the woman dead at the spot, police are looking into it as a homicide.

Images of the man under suspicion were made public. He was reported as being between 25 and 30 years old, 5 6 tall, and 150 pounds.

He is shown in the pictures sporting brown boots, pants, a knit cap with a red band, and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

With a prize of up to $10,000, authorities are inviting the public to call the Crime Stoppers hotline with tips.
