The memo, which was obtained by NBC News, instructs the heads of the National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to hold off on releasing any documents or communications—including press releases and regulations—to the public until they have been examined and approved by a presidential appointee. Federal regulations paused, halting FDA’s proposed ban on formaldehyde in hair products

President Trump signed an executive order on Monday that paused all government regulations, putting a proposal to prohibit formaldehyde in hair straightening products in limbo. The Food and Drug Administration declared that it would make a decision by April 2024 about the prohibition of formaldehyde or substances that can release formaldehyde when heated in chemical hair straightening products sold in the United States. The FDA stated in 2024 that while formaldehyde is not present in all chemical hair relaxers, several of them have components that can release the toxin when heated. More and more research over the years has connected formaldehyde to cancers that are particularly common in Black women. According to a document published in the United Agenda, a government website that offers i...

According to Johnson, the goal of the subcommittee is to find the whole truth that the American people deserve. The speaker did not specify which misleading narratives he claims the initial select committee spread. In a courthouse in central Manhattan, the trial of three men who prosecutors claim enabled a robbery and drugging conspiracy that terrorized gay bars in New York City and resulted in two fatalities got underway Wednesday. Between March 2021 and June 2022, Jayqwan Hamilton, 36; Robert Demaio, 35; and Jacob Barroso, 30 are charged with conspiring to drug and rob five men after they met them outside of gay bars and nightclubs in Manhattan. In the spring of 2022, prosecutors claimed that the offenses resulted in the deaths of political strategist John Umberger, 33, and social worker Julio Ramirez, 25. The crimes were not made widely known until May 2022, over a year after the plan started, when Ramirez's unexplained death was covered by NBC News. Hamilton, Demaio, and Barroso entered not guilt...
