Zurich The Swiss-Ski federation said on Tuesday that a member of the country's national snowboard cross squad had perished in an avalanche at the eastern mountain resort of Arosa. The avalanche caught 26-year-old Sophie Hediger in Arosa, west of Davos, on Monday, according to the federation. Walter Reusser, the Sport CEO at Swiss-Ski, stated in a statement, "We are in a state of shock and our thoughts are with Sophie's family, to whom we extend our deepest condolences."
