Who would arrest Netanyahu? ICC warrant for Israeli leader draws a global dividing line

Over a year after the start of its disastrous war in Gaza, the arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prompted a reckoning on Friday for the U.S. ally's international standing. A diplomatic boundary between those that claimed to support the International Criminal Court and those that vowed to oppose it was drawn by the warrants also issued for former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif. Given that he led his nation's attack on the Palestinian enclave and is accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity, Netanyahui is unlikely to be placed in handcuffs anytime soon as long as he stays away from Ireland and the Netherlands, both of which have stated that they would arrest him if he went there. On the other hand, Hungary p...

Boston man charged in attack on transgender woman on a train

Authorities charged a Boston man with assault and other offenses after he allegedly kicked and punched a transgender woman during a violent train incident last month. According to a news statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, the 41-year-old woman told transit police that she was attacked at the Maverick rail station on Halloween. According to the DA, she said that the suspect, Gregory Burnett, screamed insulting phrases at her, including "you re not a woman, you re a man," while punching and kicking her. According to the woman, Burnett grabbed her foot by the heel and dragged her leg as she attempted self-defense, forcing her to fall and break her wrist. She informed transit police that she thought her gender identification was the reason behind the attack. In a sta...

Trump’s tariffs could raise the cost of generic drugs in the U.S.

If President-elect Donald Trump fulfills his pledge to slap broad tariffs on goods from China and other foreign nations, many consumers may have to pay more for generic medications, according to policy experts. Trump suggested 20% general taxes on all imports and at least 60% tariffs on Chinese goods throughout his campaign. The premise is that raising the cost of imported goods would incentivize American businesses to source more and consumers to purchase more domestically. However, experts point out a significant problem with that strategy: very few generic medications are indeed produced in the United States. Generic medication production has shifted overseas over the past few decades as U.S. production has become less viable. According to Dr. Aaron Kesselheim, a Harvard Medical School ...

Democrats plot a path back to victory in Nevada after Trump ends 20-year streak

LAS VEGAS A movement toward Republicans among working-class voters has caused Democrats to lose badly in Nevada's presidential election for the first time in 20 years. The result has forced them to face their failures. During interviews, prominent Democrats and their supporters pointed to issues with messaging, the late decision to nominate Kamala Harris, and Donald Trump's exceptional capacity to take advantage of the agony of post-pandemic cost increases, which struck many voters as particularly painful. Although the red wave ended with Trump, they are optimistic about their chances in Nevada, pointing out that it did not spread to other Republicans in the state. The odd result is assisting them in formulating their plan to turn Nevada blue once more in 2028. According to Rep. Susie Lee,...

Saturdays at West Point

The story that follows is an original account of how college football unites families. Attending a Clemson, South Carolina, or any college football game can be similar for you. I hope part of what has been said speaks to you as we approach the weekend and prepare to enjoy another college football Saturday. I have a deep respect for collegiate football from an early age. I went to Army football games with my family from the time I was crawling. We would gather at my church, board a bus, and travel two hours to West Point to watch Army play a low-level opponent, which nearly always ended in victory. I suppose the church received a ticket discount, which allowed us to attend. Given the opponent and the small attendance at the game, Army was most likely pleased to comply. I get what the majori...
