Pastor fights off axe-wielding man attempting to burglarize church on Thanksgiving

After breaking into a church in Antioch early on Thursday morning, a Thanksgiving burglar received more than he had anticipated. The pastor of the church, who is martial arts trained, challenged the would-be thief.

According to Pastor Nick Neves, I yelled at him to stop and that the police were coming. He fled, but I caught him and we ended up grappling in the church parking lot.

The burglar was unaware of the pastor’s martial arts training.

According to him, I have a mixed martial arts background, enjoy being in shape, and have learned kickboxing and jujitsu. Therefore, being able to wrestle with this gentleman without seriously hurting him was really beneficial.

The burglar struggled for 12 to 15 minutes before the police showed up.

He jumped up and made multiple attempts to escape after I managed to pin him to the ground, but I was essentially just trying to exhaust him because I knew I could outlast him, Neves said.

Jeff Strawther has been a member of Family First Church for a long time. He is very grateful that his pastor remained unharmed.

“We thank God that it didn’t go in a completely different direction,” Strawther remarked. We thank God that he is our pastor and not our opponent since he is quite tough.

The church takes satisfaction in aiding people, according to the 46-year-old pastor. Actually, they just gave 130 underprivileged households groceries. The invader didn’t have to steal, he claimed.

It’s simply ironic. Neves stated that he would have been blessed, given some food, and received treatment if he had arrived a few days sooner. Instead, he made the decision to damage the ministries by smashing windows and desecrating property.

Pastor Neves expressed his hope that the burglar may repent and choose right over wrong.
