The cop went hunting deer on his family’s property at Pomaria, which is roughly 25 miles northwest of Columbia, on November 2, 2024, at around 6:30 a.m. He was hiding in a ground blind along a power line path when he heard a stomp and a deep groan. As he turned to look, he saw a human-like figure with lengthy limbs and an ape-like face that was 7 to 7.5 feet tall and amber in color. Before the monster left, the two observed one another for roughly thirty seconds. “As a police officer, I had no idea what to make of it,” said the officer, who has hunted in this area since he was a young boy. The report was examined by Matthew Moneymaker, host of Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot and creator of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO). He pointed out that the hardwood forest where the encounter occurred, which is home to a sizable number of deer, and its close proximity to the Palmetto Trail are both consistent with reports of Bigfoot sightings. “I spoke with the witness at length,” Moneymaker said, underscoring the importance of the witness’s law enforcement experience.
