Police report details alleged sexual assault by Trump’s defense pick Pete Hegseth

According to official records of a police investigation unsealed in California on Wednesday night, a lady informed authorities that she had been sexually assaulted by a man she identified as Pete Hegseth, the defense secretary nominee of President-elect Donald Trump.

According to documents made public by the Monterey Police Department, the lady, who is only known as “Jane Doe,” first saw Hegseth in 2017 while he was speaking at an event held at a Monterey hotel. Hegseth denied any misconduct and was not charged.

When Hegseth acknowledged paying an undisclosed sum as part of a settlement with his accuser, the accusations surfaced last weekend.

The police report “confirms what I’ve said all along, that the incident was fully investigated and police found the allegation to be false, which is why no charges were filed,” Timothy Parlatore, Hegseth’s lawyer, told NBC News in a statement on Thursday.

“Eyewitness and video evidence confirms that she was the aggressor, and years later, she extorted Mr. Hegseth for money,” Parlatore said in a statement on Sunday.

A request for comment from NBC News was not immediately answered by the Trump transition team.

Three prominent candidates for Trump’s new Cabinet have been accused of sexual misbehavior, including former Fox News presenter Hegseth.

According to the story, the unnamed lady challenged Hegseth at the event because “she did not appreciate how he treated women,” and she then went to a hospital for a sexual assault examination.

Although the woman claimed to have consumed a “small amount of Champagne” during an after-party, she was unable to recall consuming any “hard alcohol.” She reportedly had more drinks in a hotel-affiliated pub with a group of other women, where Hegseth was also present.

She said, “That’s where things got fuzzy,” to the police. According to the report, she told a buddy via text that she had had more drink than usual during the day. The woman thought a narcotic of some kind had been added to her drink.

Hegseth followed her out of the pub, according to the report, which she attributed to their previous fight. She told police that she recalled Hegseth calling him a “nice guy.”

Then the woman was in an unidentified room. She reported to the police that Hegseth asked her who she was texting, confiscated her phone, and then forcefully prevented her from leaving the room. “JANE DOE remembered saying ‘no’ a lot,” revealed the report.

According to the report, Jane DOE’s next memory was of HEGSETH being over her while she was lying on a couch or bed. He was bare-chested, she added, and his dog tags were hovering over her face.

“Are you OK?” she asked the police after he threw her a towel after ejaculating over her stomach. The woman claimed she couldn’t recall how she got back to her room and that it wasn’t until she went home that she realized she had supposedly met Hegseth. According to the report, she was examined at the hospital four days later.

Following the incident, Hegseth admitted to authorities that he had intercourse with the woman, but claimed it was consensual and that he made sure she was at ease. He said she had “early signs of regret,” but he did not specify what they were, and that he had not intended to start a sexual relationship with her.
