Rochester, New York (WNY News Now).New federal charges have been brought against a Rochester woman who has a history of violating airport security after she allegedly entered a restricted area at Rochester Airport again.
After being taken into custody, 39-year-old Takesha Rogers was accused of knowingly entering an airport area against security rules, a federal felony that carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison. This is the third time she has been known to violate airport security.
Rogers previously admitted to breaking airport security regulations in May 2022 after jumping a fence and entering the Aircraft Operations Area (AOA) four times, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan K. McGuire. She was put on supervised release after completing her sentence. She did, however, try another violation in April 2023, which led to the cancellation of her supervised release and a one-year prison sentence. The month of July 2024 saw her release.
Just after 11:30 p.m. on November 27, 2024, Rogers broke through airport security once more and entered a protected AOA. She was seen sprinting in the direction of a moving plane taxiing to the runway by a Monroe County sheriff’s deputy. After being safely taken into custody and placed under Mental Hygiene Arrest, Rogers was sent to Rochester General Hospital for a mental health assessment.
Rogers is still being held after appearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Marian W. Payson.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office are looking into this case. The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
