At least three persons were killed in a key section of Kyivearly, the capital of Ukraine, when Russian forces launched a combined drone and missile strike on Saturday, according to city officials.
Timur Tkachenko, the head of military administration, said that the attack, which also injured three people, was repulsed by air defenses as explosions erupted across the predawn sky. Police reported three deaths, but he alleged four had been killed.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, there was also damage to a water pipe and a metro station.
Rescuers picked over rubble as they plodded through a flooded street. In front of the station, the burned remains of a van were evident; the van’s facade was characterized by blown-out windows and twisted metal.
Dmytro Lubinets, the parliamentary ombudsman, posted on social media that Russian forces first launched drones before launching a ballistic missile strike. These actions only serve to highlight the enemy’s cruelty and ruthlessness.
Moscow, which usually denies targeting civilians, did not immediately comment.
Additionally, Russia hit Zaporizhzhia in the southeast, causing damage to an industrial facility’s offices and ten injuries, according to the regional governor.
Russia launched 24 out of 39 drones and 2 out of 4 missiles throughout Ukraine during the nocturnal attack, according to the Ukrainian military.
Four people were killed and an educational building was partially destroyed in Friday’s Russian missile strike on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s village of Kryvyi Rih, according to officials.
In its nearly three-year-old invasion of Ukraine, Russia has regularly launched airstrikes against cities and towns located far behind the battle line, focusing especially on vital infrastructure.
