Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ attempt to be released on bail before holidays is denied

Sean Diddy Combs will spend the Christmas away from home.

Combs must remain in jail until his criminal trial in May, according to a ruling made Wednesday by the judge presiding over his sex trafficking and racketeering case.

There is “no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community” if the music mogul is given parole, according to Judge Aran Subramanian’s judgment.

Combs, 55, is incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

The announcement was made a few days after Combs’ legal team laid out their strategy for his potential release. They said that he would only be permitted to call his lawyers and receive visits from pre-approved family members while residing in an apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, which is guarded by armed guards around-the-clock.

However, prosecutor Christy Slavik contended that it would be harmful to release Combs from prison.

Slavik stated during Friday’s hearing that he is paying his way out of detention, is still breaking the law, poses a risk of fleeing, is a danger to the community, and is attempting to undermine the fairness of these proceedings.

Additionally, prosecutors said that Combs used other prisoners’ cell lines and made three-way calls in order to participate in witness tampering while incarcerated. Citing an Instagram post earlier this month that included his kids calling him on his birthday while he was incarcerated, they further asserted that he has attempted to discredit potential jurors through a public relations campaign.

However, according to Combs’ team, all of this falls within his constitutional rights.

Just more than a week has passed since the judge ordered prosecutors to destroy 16 pages of notes retrieved from Combs’ detention cell, which were supposed to be shielded by attorney-client privilege.
