Shakes on a plane: Delta to serve Shake Shack cheeseburgers on flights leaving Boston

As part of a new collaboration with the New York-based burger chain, Delta Air Lines will start experimenting with its menu by serving Shake Shack cheeseburgers on flights from Boston starting in December.

However, not all Delta passengers will have access to airborne hamburgers.

Beginning on December 1, Delta Airlines said in a news release that only first-class passengers traveling more than 900 miles will be allowed to choose a Shake Shack cheeseburger as their meal option. Beginning seven days prior to departure, customers can use the Fly Delta app or a link in their email to make and modify their entry selection up to 24 hours in advance.

According to Stephanie Laster, Managing Director of Onboard Service at Delta, “We’re excited to elevate the offering with Shake Shack because our customers know that a delicious cheeseburger is an iconic comfort food, which is why burgers are one of the top ordered menu items we offer.”

According to the press announcement, passengers will receive a cheeseburger along with a Caesar salad, chips, and a dark chocolate brownie.

Michael Kark, Shake Shack’s President of Global Licensing, stated, “We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to meet our guests where they are, even at 35,000 feet.” “Taking our beloved cheeseburger to new heights, Shake Shack is proud to partner with Delta as we elevate the in-flight dining and hospitality experience for travelers across the country.”

Delta stated that they intend to extend this service to additional U.S. markets by 2025, although they did not say if main cabin passengers would be included in this extension.
