According to Louisiana authorities, a skydiver died on Saturday after his parachute failed to deploy.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office described the unnamed skydiver as an Asian male in astatement.
About 25 miles north of Shreveport, at Gilliam Airport, the skydiver was reported missing at 1:30 p.m.
According to the sheriff’s office, he was discovered a few miles from the planned landing spot around two hours later.
The statement claimed that the skydiver’s parachute had not deployed. According to the sheriff’s office, he was wearing an orange wingsuit.
When contacted Tuesday afternoon for more information, no one from the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office or the sheriff’s office was available.
This year, there have been at least two other skydiving deaths attributed to malfunctioning parachutes.
A Colorado man lost his life in January when his parachute failed to release. A few days later, a 73-year-old man from Arizona also died as a result of a malfunctioning parachute that did not fully deploy.
