Soccer stars Kristie Mewis and Samantha Kerr are expecting a baby

On Monday, soccer players Samantha Kerr and Kristie Mewis revealed they were expecting their first child.

In 2025, Mewis-Kerr will have a baby! The pair shared a combined Instagram photo.

Mewis, who currently plays for West Ham United FC, was a midfielder for the U.S. women’s national soccer team more than fifty times. Kerr plays forward for Chelsea FC and the women’s national soccer team of Australia.

According to London-based magazine Gafferin 2022, the pair first connected online during the epidemic after meeting on the field at a National Women’s Soccer League championship match in 2019.

The couple then disclosed their engagement in an exclusive People magazine article last year. According to People, Mewes claimed that Kerr, who is regarded as one of the greatest strikers in the world, was her staunchest ally at the time and would constantly listen to her nagging and complaining about all of my wacky actions.

After the couple posted multiple pictures and their pregnancy news on Instagram, congratulations flooded in.

Among those celebrating were current and former professional soccer players from all over the world, including Ali Krieger, a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team, Mallory Pugh Swanson, Kelley O. Hara, and Sam, the sister of Kristie Mewis.

Congratulations to you both! Krieger responded with love and teary-eyed emojis.

With the caption, “Baby baller incoming,” the FIFA Women’s World Cup official Instagram account projected that Baby Mewis-Kerr will inherit athletic skill. You two deserve congratulations.

Penny Wong, the Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs, also sent congratulations.

The touching news was posted on the website of West Ham United, a professional soccer team.

Congratulations to Kristie and Sam on their wonderful news! From all of us at West Ham United! The team from England wrote.

In addition to the flood of supportive comments, the post received homophobic responses, which Chelsea FC called intolerable and disgusting in a statement to Reuters.

According to a club spokeswoman, “any kind of discrimination has no place in society, and we will not tolerate any abuse directed towards our players, staff, or supporters.” Being a diverse, welcoming club that honors and accepts individuals from all backgrounds, groups, and identities makes us really proud.
