(WNY News Now) St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jamestown is inviting the community to come together in the spirit of celebration in December with a number of events that honor the season of light and community.
This season, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, located at 410 N. Main St. in Jamestown, is providing festive opportunities to participate and maintain relationships with others, including candlelight services and caroling. St. Luke’s celebrates the season in a variety of ways, and Karen Hewes Suber, Director of Music and Community Arts Integration, says it’s a time to find beauty and joy in the company of others.
On Saturday, December 7, the Chadakoin Chamber Ensemble will perform Holiday Harmonies in the chapel. The concert is family-friendly and encourages people to dress in colorful ugly sweaters. On Tuesday, December 17, the Caroling & Pub Crawl will begin at The Pub on Main St. in Jamestown. Carolers are welcome to join the group, which will visit four local pubs to sing and have a good time!
On the evening of Friday, December 20, the Chapel will host the Sacred Songs for Solstice celebration, which will honor the darkest time of the year with simple, enjoyable sing-alongs from various traditions commemorating the solstice and the return of light. The church’s Blue Christmas Service on Saturday, December 21, provides a comforting environment for those who struggle throughout the holidays.
Lastly, on Tuesday, December 24, there will be the customary Christmas Pageant at 4 p.m. and the Christmas Eve Service at 11 p.m. Soloists Victoria McIlvain, Aaron & Boaz Mecham, and Gavin Card will perform during the Christmas Eve Service. Favorite Christmas hymns will be played throughout these customary ceremonies, which will reenact the enchantment of the season with our community’s loved ones.
