(WNY News Now) ASHFORD, NY A traffic collision investigation on Ashford’s Route 219 resulted in the arrest of a Lockport man and the discovery of drug paraphernalia and a stolen vehicle.
Around 9:40 a.m. on December 3, 2024, deputies arrived at the scene of a single-vehicle collision. It was discovered that the 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 had been reported stolen in Lockport, New York.
At the scene, the driver, Keonta J. Mayfield, 28, of 106 Saxton Street, Lockport, was taken into custody. Several scales with white powder residue and sandwich bags with similar material were found during a search of the truck; these findings were suggestive of drug-related activity.
Mayfield was accused of:
- Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree (PL 165.50)
- Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (PL 220.50)
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree (VTL 511-2A2)
Mayfield was arrested and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail. He will later appear before Judge Hebdon in the Town of Ashford Court. The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
