Stowaway found after boarding flight from New York to Paris

Authorities reported Wednesday that during the Thanksgiving travel crunch, a stowaway evaded security checks and was caught on a flight from New York to Paris.

On Tuesday, the unnamed woman was traveling on Delta flight 264 from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport.

After the plane touched down in Paris, she was taken off by police, an insider with knowledge of the incident told NBC News.

Bypassing two “identity verification and boarding status stations and boarding the aircraft,” the woman who boarded the flight without a ticket, according to a statement from a Transportation Security Administration official.

According to the spokeswoman, she passed a thorough security check prior to boarding, indicating that she was not a security risk and had no forbidden goods with her.

Authorities stated that a person must have passed the security checkpoint in order to be at a departure gate, though it is unclear how the woman got around ticketing stations to board the plane.

According to flight tracking website FlightAware, the flight departed from JFK at 10:37 p.m. ET and touched down in Paris at 12:00 p.m. CET.

In a statement, Delta Airlines stated that “nothing is of greater importance than matters of safety and security.” “That’s why Delta is conducting an exhaustive investigation of what may have occurred and will work collaboratively with other aviation stakeholders and law enforcement to that end.”
