Just a few days before Christmas, dozens of Amazon packages were found abandoned in a Massachusetts town’s woods. However, the delivery driver said that stress caused them to dispose of the lot, not the Grinch stealing gifts.
Around two in the morning on Sunday, a Lakeville police sergeant on a regular patrol came upon the swarm of gifts.
Items were found “unattended” in a forested area close to 63 Bedford Street, the sergeant observed. According to a news release from Lakeville police, he discovered three sizable totes full of Amazon packages strewn several feet into the woods when he continued his investigation.
The totes, which included a total of 80 items, were returned to the police station.
Police contacted a local Amazon distribution center in Middleborough and returned the products after receiving no reports of theft or misplacement.
According to an Amazon driver that attended the Lakeville Police Department on Monday, they were under stress on Saturday and abandoned those packages by the side of the road at around 7 p.m.
The driver stated that they intended to inform their manager about the occurrence. The driver’s name was not revealed by the police.
According to Lakeville police, no criminal charges are being pursued.
