SUNY Jamestown Community College Achieves SUNY Online+ Recertification for 11 Programs, Strengthening Online Education Commitment

(WNY News Now) The State University of New York (SUNY) has recertified SUNY Jamestown Community College (JCC) for 11 degree and certificate programs under the esteemed SUNY Online+ accreditation, which is a significant step in increasing access to high-quality online learning opportunities.

The State University of New York officially authorized SUNY Jamestown Community College for Online+ recertification in 11 degree and certificate programs. Additional support services for professors and students are offered by online programs that are a part of SUNY Online+.

JCC has a strong institutional commitment to providing high-quality online education, and your best practices for managing online programs are excellent, according to SUNY.

SUNY Online+-designated JCC programs include: Addictions Counseling A.S. and certificate; Bachelor of Arts & Sciences: Language, Literature & Writing A.A.; Business Administration A.A.S. and A.S.; Computer Science A.S. and Entrepreneurship certificate; Health Information Technology A.A.S. and certificate; and Information Technology A.A.S. and certificate.

Through academic advice, career-related learning opportunities, tutoring, and advanced online resources and possibilities from all 64 SUNY campuses, SUNY Online+ programs offer individualized student support. In an improved technical environment, faculty support through technology and training guarantees high-quality course design, delivery, and evaluation.

Jessica Kubiak, JCC’s vice president of Academic Affairs, stated, “Our endorsement by SUNY Online+ indicates that they receive the same exceptional quality and support as their on-campus peers as more students turn to online education.” Our dedication to increasing access to higher education and our leadership in online education are reaffirmed by this renewal.

Since the fall of 2019, when 10.8% of JCC’s total student body was enrolled only online, the proportion of students opting for online learning has grown dramatically. In the fall of 2023, that number increased to 24.4%, and this fall, it reached 27.1%. This fall, 230 students were enrolled in credit courses exclusively online, and 98 faculty members were teaching online.

JCC offers its faculty a course on Teaching Students at Distance, which 150 students have finished or are enrolled in, as well as training on Online Course Design and Online Course Quality Plan and Review.

22 business, computer science, liberal arts, and online health information programs and certificates are available exclusively online at JCC, and many more can be earned by combining online and on-campus coursework.
